The Interreg Sudoe RuralSilverHubs project, co-funded by the Interreg Sudoe Programme (2021–2027) with a budget of approximately €1.3 million, is a cross-border initiative bringing together partners from Spain, France and Portugal to address the challenges of demographic ageing, depopulation and limited access to services in rural areas.
The Silver Economy as a driver for rural development:
The project focuses on the Silver Economy, understood as the set of economic activities linked to the needs and opportunities of people over 55, aiming to turn demographic trends into innovation, entrepreneurship and improved quality of life in rural territories.
Webinar content
The webinar will present the results of the stakeholder study, as well as best practices and lessons learned on the development of the Silver Economy across the SUDOE space, strengthening cooperation and fostering new transnational synergies.
Key stakeholders and project partners
The session will feature the project coordination led by Diputación de Tarragona, together with SODEBUR, Universidade de Vigo, Finnova Foundation, Gérontopôle Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Silver Occitanie Cluster, Comunidade Intermunicipal do Algarve, Comunidade Intermunicipal do Ave and Cruz Roja Portuguesa.
An interactive Slido poll, a stakeholder roundtable discussion on challenges and opportunities in rural Silver Economy ecosystems, and the presentation of territorial best practices will also be included.
Date: April 27, 2026 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Format: The webinar will take place online from Portugal is free of charge and the session will be held in English.
